Why do bad things happen… if God is good and in control?

In this message, we begin a new series through the book of Habakkuk, a short “minor prophet” with a major message for anyone who has ever wrestled with doubt, tragedy, injustice, or the silence of God.

Habakkuk’s name means “to wrestle” or “to embrace,” and his book reads like a personal diary: three prayers and two answers—a raw, honest conversation between a hurting prophet and a sovereign God.

In this opening message, we look at Habakkuk 1 and the questions we all ask:
• Why does God allow tragedy and suffering?
• Why does God seem silent or inactive?
• What do we do when we don’t understand what God is doing?

Key takeaways from this message:
• It’s not a sin to doubt—but it matters what you do with your doubt
• When you hit the wall in life, you can check out, back out, or talk it out
• Habakkuk confronts God with honesty, and keeps believing
• God answers… but sometimes His answer is not what we expected
• When we don’t understand what God is doing, we must remember who God is
